Barely five days after the All Progressives Congress
secretariat in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State
was bombed, another secretariat belonging to the party was
attacked at Ngo community in Andoni Local Government Area
of the state on Friday.
The incident, which occurred at about 3.14am, destroyed the
building as residents, who were jolted by the deafening sound
of the explosion, took to their heels.
The Ward 1 Chairman of APC in the area, Mr. Amos Gogo
Amos, said the attack on the secretariat in Andoni was similar
to that of Sunday’s incident in Okrika Local Government Area.
Amos said, “We are calling on the government to come to our
aid as we are no longer safe in the community. Anything can
happen in the night. The building was badly damaged.”
Also speaking on the incident, the Caretaker Committee
Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Mr. Ikwut
Emmanuel, said he received a distress call that the secretariat
had been attacked by some unknown persons.
Emmanuel, however, appealed to the state Commissioner of
Police, Mr. Dan Bature, to investigate the matter and bring the
culprits to book.
The police spokesperson, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, confirmed
the incident, but said details were still sketchy.
